Background
It was while on the staff of the Programme that he completed his doctorate on Stoic influence on the Satires of Horace, an area of study which in conjunction with Roman Satire in general has been a fruitful source of journal articles and conference presentations over the years. The interest in Greek and Roman Drama has led to a large number of productions for public showing both in Christchurch and a couple in Western Australia. Robin’s most recent productions were Euripides' Iphigeneia at Aulis, in October, 2008 and Aristophanes’ Frogs in his own translation in Christchurch in 2005. In 2008 he collaborated in a production of Euripides' Cylops with Dr Patrick O'Sullivan in a translation produced by both of them.
A production of Prometheus Bound is planned for December 2009, again in a new translation, while a production of Aristophanes' Wasps, also in a new translation, is planned as part of the College of Arts "Platform" Festival in 2010.
