About Us
Oculus: Postgraduate Journal for Visual Arts Research is a peer reviewed publication produced entirely by postgraduate students from the University of Canterbury Art History and Theory and School of Fine Arts programmes.
Founded in 2008, Oculus continues to showcase the broad scope and high quality of research being carried out by postgraduate students studying in the field of visual arts and culture from across New Zealand and Australia.
Issue No. 3 of Oculus was successfully launched on Friday 27 May 2011 in conjunction with the opening of ‘nth degree,’ an exhibition featuring recent works by nine graduating students from the University of Canterbury’s School of Fine Arts.
For Issue No. 4 we aim to strengthen the connections made between various tertiary institutions while also demonstrating the research being undertaken by postgraduate students studying visual arts and culture from a wide range of disciplines and perspectives.
